Location, location, location: place-based change - insights from Collaborat...
Thu 13 October 2016, 16:00 – 16:45 EDT
Collaborate is a small social business that works with a number of towns and cities across the UK to help them explore a common question: how do we create more socially and economically sustainable communities? Following the Brexit vote and in the context of ongoing austerity in public services, these questions feel even more pertinent.
We believe that to change places you have to change practice. Partnering with local authorities, health bodies, third sector organisations and social funders, we help places understand the importance of collaboration across sectors and with communities in enabling positive change.
Increasingly our thinking is focusing on the building place-based systems, and we will be publishing a major research report at the end of this year that outlines the infrastructure needed for place-based change and explores ways to build it.
This session will briefly explore why system thinking can help us understand the importance of collaboration in addressing the challenges facing our communities today and offer some insights into the process of place-based change and the infrastructure that is required to turn vision into practice.
