Lockdown Jazz Sessions #19
Event Information
About this event
Welcoming Rachael Cohen, Jason Brown and Jordan Hadfield for Lockdown Jazz Sessions #19!
Lockdown Jazz Sessions are fortnightly gigs performed by musicians from their own homes. Using zoom, the audience has the chance to be present and together at the online gig, even unmuting themselves to applaud.
First Set: Rachael Cohen and Jason Brown
Jason Brown is one of the foremost drummers of his generation to come out of New York City. A student of the great Billy Hart, he had his first break with singer Carmen Lundy and has gone on to play with legends such as Cedar Walton, Pat Martino, Joey Defrancesco and Kurt Rosenwinkel. He is currently in the trio of master pianist Monty Alexander and a member of the two time grammy nominated 'Captain Black Big Band'.
Rachael Cohen hails from Edinburgh and has been one of the most in demand Alto players in the UK for the last ten years. The first female to be signed to the internationally acclaimed 'Whirlwind Recordings, Rachael released her record 'Halftime' in 2012 and has become a mainstay at London's most famous clubs. Rachael can be found working regularly with singer Heidi Vogel (cinematic orchestra), Drummer Shane Forbes and Vibes player Lewis Wright (Empirical)) as well as trumpeter Mark Kavuma and Pianist Reuben James.
Together Jason and Rachael will be working their way through some of Rachael's original music as well as some carefully selected tunes especially for this one off duo performance.
Second Set: Jordan Hadfield
Drummer and multi-instrumentalist Jordan Hadfield will be streaming live from his studio in London. Jordan is a member of alt-psych-rock band Club Kuru who released their second album 'Meet your maker' in 2019. He is also known for playing with acclaimed pianist Ashley Henry.
