Wokingham Borough Council recently committed to produce a design code to guide the future of Loddon Valley Garden Village. The council has appointed an external project team of planners, designers, and architects to help it prepare this design code. The approach being taken by the project team is to put local people at the heart of the design code process.
Therefore, the first stage research will be a series of walking tours around various locations nearby to give local people the opportunity to tell the project team about the types of architecture and urban design that you think work well, as well as places you think could be better. The lessons learned from what we see on these walks will inform the content of the future design code.
Walking tours last one hour maximum. Please come along prepared to share your ideas with the project team and with those who join you on the walks.

· Wed 10 Sep (at 10am, 1pm and 4pm) – Shinfield
· Fri 12 Sep (at 10am, 1pm and 4pm) – Arborfield
· Thu 18 Sep (at 10am, 1pm and 4pm) – Sindlesham
· Mon 22 Sep (at 10am, 1pm and 4pm) – Wokingham Town Centre
We have chosen the four locations above as these are closest to the location of the garden village development and therefore are most likely to offer examples and insights that can best inform future design responses. Please choose a walk in a location you are most interested in or have the most knowledge about.
We have made wet weather contingency arrangements should the weather not be suitable for the walk.
