Event description

Description

Owing to very limited numbers, we are running this tour twice, back-to-back.

Tate Britain holds a fantastic collection of British art but how many of them are paintings of London? This tour of Tate Britain's collection led by Footprints of London guide Rob Smith focuses on twelve paintings of London. All of them are very different and span a period from 1700 to the 1960's but all have London as a common theme. Rob will talk about the paintings, the social and historical background to the works, and what they can tell us about changing London and artists reactions to the city. Tour is approximately 1 hour.

London Historians members only. Join London Historians.
