LONDON CAMINO TASTER WALK Wimbledon Park, Wimbledon Common, Richmond Park, Petersham Meadows, Richmond

About this event

Wimbledon Park, Wimbledon Common, Richmond Park, Petersham Meadows, Richmond 7.5 miles / 12.5km

Studies by Stanford University found that walking boosts creative inspiration. Why not find fresh perspective on a group taster walk? Walks start with a short relaxation exercise to help you transition into the ‘Camino’ space. I will offer a question or a theme for exploration and discussion. You can walk alone or partner up for the walk - this is your Camino. Equally, walking and sharing within a group provides additional perspectives and the opportunity to build new friendships and deepen connections.

The walks will be at a gentle pace; providing a little bit of fitness, space for self-discovery, conversation, discovering perhaps parts of London you’ve never seen before and some fun along the way. At the end we all come together to enjoy some refreshments as a group. Depending on the season/weather, this will be in a café or pub, or a picnic outdoors.

All individuals are welcome. A London Camino taster walk can temporarily pause the ‘daily routine’, provides time and space for exploration inside and out and the opportunity to come away with fresh perspective on something that’s important to you.

The Walk

We begin by entering Wimbledon Park gaining glimpses of the capital of tennis, the All England Tennis Club (Wimbledon) lying across on the other side of the lake. Residential streets follow as we ascend to Wimbledon Common and Putney Heath. A plateau, it is where half the open heathland remaining in London is to be found. The main local attraction: the rare, hollow post windmill and accompanying tea rooms. Tracks and paths lead us to Richmond Park; land that was enclosed in 1637 for sole use of King Charles I for hunting. The park today is Europe’s largest urban space and famous for its deer. We end our walk crossing Petersham Meadows, famously painted by Turner, to Richmond. A popular town, founded in the 16th century following King Henry VII's building of Richmond Palace.
