Get involved in London Challenge Poverty Week 2021: an open meeting to find out all about the week and how you can contribute

About this event

London Challenge Poverty Week 2021 takes place from 11 – 17 October.

This will be the fourth annual London Challenge Poverty Week. It is an opportunity for all those who care about tackling poverty in the capital to come together to:

• Increase visibility of the reality of poverty in London;

• Encourage positive debate and discussion about poverty; and

• Show what is being done to tackle poverty & the solutions we know exist.

There are a wide range of ways to take part in the week in October. These include:

- Organising a local event in your local community, showcasing a project you are involved in which contributes to tackling poverty

- Inviting your local councillors or MP to an event to discuss the impact of poverty in your local area

- Supporting on social media by sharing key messages

- Writing a blog, make a video or talk to the media about the solutions to poverty

- Joining the LCPW steering group which coordinates activities over the week

- Anything else you can come up with!

This ‘Get Involved’ session is open to anyone who would like to take part and be involved in the week in some way. We are especially keen to welcome those with lived experience of poverty to help shape the week.

Come and hear about how the week has developed since it began in 2018, how organisations and individuals have taken part in past weeks, what support and training is on offer to help you to get involved and to be inspired!

There will be no obligation to sign up to do anything there and then at the meeting, we will get in touch with participants after the event to ask if/how they think they might be able to take part.

This is a free online event and will be held on Zoom. Joining details will circulated a few days before the event to those who have registered for a free ticket via Eventbrite.
