Event description

Description

Kay Bojesen’s iconic and charismatic articulated Monkey comprises 31 parts in limba wood and teak, assembled by hand in Denmark. Designed in 1951, the Monkey is the heart of Kay Bojesen’s loveable wooden menagerie, including an elephant, hippo, dog, bear and rabbit. Avoiding strict or sophisticated lifelike copies, Bojesen instead created his beloved animals as compelling embodiments of how a child might picture them; “the lines need to smile,” he once said. This basic philosophy informs all of his creations, appealing to the child in all of us.

Join Skandium as we bring the workshop to life in our Marylebone store, hosting a master craftsman to demonstrate how each Monkey comes to life, and enjoy an insightful talk on the history and legacy of Kay Bojesen.
