London Critical Data Marathon
6th and 7th September, 2014
The data marathon will bring together frontline healthcare providers with data scientists to answer clinically-relevant questions over the course of a weekend (6-7 September 2014).
The weekend will begin with talks from experts in data science, biostatistics and clinical medicine. Following this participants will have the opportunity to work with the MIMIC-II database in a weekend-long hacking competition which will culminate with video presentations from participants in London, Paris and Boston.

Our aims are to:
We will be using a large open-access ICU database called MIMIC-II, a creation of a public-private partnership between the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), MIT, and Philips Healthcare.
MIMIC-II has attracted both clinicians and data scientists who have partnered on many studies, including examination of practice variability, heterogeneity of treatment effect, cost analyses, and predictive modeling, among others.
Clinicians, data scientists and other interested individuals who have not typically engaged in research but who possess a deep understanding of the information gaps as well as the elements involved in practice, are now empowered to contribute to and become part of a data-driven learning system.
