London Diving Chamber is pleased to be hosting the 2018 BHA Annual Scientific Meeting, on Thursday 8th & Friday 9th November. We invite you to join us for two days of rich content, diving science, hyperbaric medicine and we hope a little adventure in central London, a stone’s throw from Regent’s Park at the Danubius Meeting Space:

Day 1: Diving and Hyperbaric scientific lectures, AGM, Champagne reception followed by three course meal with enjoyable evening entertainment.

Day 2: HBO and Chamber lectures


Tickets:

Tier. 1: Access to day 1 of conference, including a champagne reception followed by a three course dinner with guest speaker.

Tier 2: Champagne reception followed by a three course dinner with wine and a guest speaker only.

Tier 3: Access to day 2 of the conference only, including tea, lunch and snacks.

Tier 4: Full access to both days of the conference including the champagne reception followed by a three course dinner with guest speaker.


Keynote speakers confirmed so far include (but are not limited to):

Dr Peter Buzzacott – the current Director of Injury Monitoring and Prevention for the Diver’s Alert Network, Peter will present on diving injury surveillance and frontiers in decompression research.

Dr Daniel Martin OBE – proud owner of the lowest ever recorded partial pressure of arterial oxygen in a functioning human (2.55 kPa), Dan will speak about his experiences on Mount Everest, hypoxic (and hyperoxic) adaptation and its relevance to critical care.

Dr Shai Efrati MD - a very well known proponent of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for a myriad of indications, Dr. Shai Efrati is a professor at Sackler School of Medicine and the Sagol School of Neuroscience of Tel Aviv University and the director of the Sagol center for hyperbaric medicine and research at Assaf-Harofeh Medical Center in Israel will be joining the conference to present on HBOT and brain injuries.

Paul Rose – formerly Base Commander of Rothera Research Station, Antarctica, for the British Antarctic Survey for 10 years, and currently Expedition Leader for the National Geographic Pristine Seas Expeditions, Paul is an experienced television presenter and radio broadcaster, and he will update us on his most recent work helping scientists unlock and communicate global mysteries in the most remote and challenging regions of the planet.

Dr Oliver Firth - joined LDC in 2006 and is the primary doctor carrying out diving medicals and recompression treatments at the chamber. He is an Honorary Lecturer at University College London and regularly gives talks on all aspects of diving and hyperbaric medicine to doctors, physiology students and local dive clubs.


Planned Schedule Summary for delegates:

Day 1- The event is kicking off on Thursday 8th November at 8.45am please be prompt for registration.

There will be lectures all day, with morning and afternoon tea provided.

The BHA AGM will take place in the afternoon between 3pm and 6pm.

There will be a champagne reception at 7pm on Thursday followed by a formal dinner in the Danubius Hotel Dennis Compton dining room with a guest speaker.

Day 2 will be a day of lectures beginning at 9am, including a midmorning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. The lectures will be finished by 5pm.

The call for abstracts and presentations is now open. Please make any submissions to Dr Oliver Firth at oliver@londondivingchamber.co.uk

Any and all topics related to diving and hyperbaric medicine are welcome, with submissions from nursing and technical staff particularly encouraged.
