About this event

London Frocktails 2024 will be a chance for home sewists, sewing friends from far and wide, to chat all things fabric, patterns and anything else with people you haven't met in real life yet and others you've known for years.

There will be a glass of fizz on arrival, and wine, beer, non-alcoholic drinks and canapés available during the evening.

You will definitely get a chance to show off your outfit and there may even be prizes!!

The venue, Science Gallery London, is part of King's College London, situated a few short steps from London Bridge Rail and Underground Station (Guy's Hospital exit). The immediate area is well served with cafés and restaurants, and excellent public transport connections across London and to national rail services.

The venue is in the first floor, accessible by lift, with stunning balcony views of the Shard building.

Frequently asked questions

Is food and drink included in the price?

Yes. The venue does not have a bar to buy drinks. Wine, beer and a range of soft drinks are therefore included in the price, along with a selection of canapés and nibbles. Vegan and guten free options are available. Please advise if you have specific allergies the venue needs to know about.

How do I get there?

The Science Gallery Café is a few short steps from London Bridge Rail and Underground Station (Guy's exit). London Bridge Station is well served by trains and tube services to other major London Stations.

Is there accommodation nearby?

There are three Premier Inns within 5-10 minutes walk. There are also plenty of hotels around Kings Cross Station which is less than 15 minutes away from London Bridge on the Northern Line, for example. Kings Cross is also easy for getting to Alexandra Palace for the K&S show.

What about restaurants and cafés?

The area is full of great restaurants where you can have a pre-event meal with friends, and lots of cafés where you can have breakfast or brunch. Just pick whichever takes your fancy.

Any interesting things to do nearby?

Only all the major sights of London! And the Fashion & Textile Museum is just around the corner, it is well worth a visit. The Knitting & Stitching Show is on over the whole weekend. Or a visit to Goldhawk Road which has an abundance of interesting fabric shops. There is loads to do and see!

Do I need to make a special frock?

Only if you want to. Just come wearing the memade outfit you love the most, whether it's newly sewn or proudly re-worn. We look forward to seeing you!

Can non-sewists join the event?

No. It is an event to celebrate our love of sewing. Non-sewists would not only be bored, they would also prevent another sewist from attending the event instead of them, which would be a shame.

Does the venue cater for people with mobility issues?

The venue has step free access with a lift to the first floor. There are toilets on the first floor. If you need a carer to accompany you they will have to have their own ticket to the event. You can buy a maximum of two tickets to allow for someone to accompany you.

What if I have bought a ticket but subsequently can't attend?

We can't issue refunds but you can sell on your ticket to another sewist as long as you let us have the name of the new attendee so we can add them to our guest list instead.
