About this event

As part of the 9th London Georgian Film Festival, UCL will host the opening event of a 5-day intensive filmmaking workshop (30 September - 5 October 2025) led by award-winning filmmaker and writer Nana Ekvtimishvili assisted by London based actor Marika Khundadze. Participants will in five days develop, shoot and edit short films (1 - 5 minutes), which will then be screened at London’s leading arthouse cinema Ciné Lumière. The 5-day workshop is open to approximately 10 filmmakers, students and film lovers who are Georgian nationals living in London or the UK, as well as anyone who feels connected to Georgia as their home. Themes of home, displacement and belonging will be explored through the language of cinema.

The opening workshop with Nana Ekvtimishvili, Marika Khundadze and the active participants on Tuesday 30 September at 6.30pm, will be open to UCL students and the public in general (free admission but signing up through Eventbrite is essential). A 3 minute film Crocodiles Tears, developed by Zoe Hunter Gordon with Marika Khundadze playing herself, will be shown. The image above is a still from the film.
