London Growth Hub Business Roadshow: City Hall

If you're looking to grow your business, this is the event for you!

It's no secret: businesses that receive support, grow faster and stronger. Hosted by the London Growth Hub, the London Business Roadshows are a one-day event offering practical workshops, 121 mentoring sessions, inspirational speakers and exhibitors with solutions that will boost your business.

There are two rooms with simultaneous talks as well as an exhibition area and 121 mentoring zone all day. You're welcome to choose which talks to attend so you maximise all the support on offer!

10:05am: How I started my business with Kym Denny, former CEO, hVIVO
Kym Denny was the CEO of hVIVO (formerly Retroscreen Virology), a specialty biopharma company, since 2010 and stepped aside in 2018. Kym led the company’s highly successful IPO on AIM in 2012 and has since led several successful fundraising drives totaling almost £100m. She has now joined Cambridge Enterprise, University of Cambridge, as their Entrepreneur in Residence for the Life Sciences where she will be mentoring companies on forming businesses and teams, setting commercialisation strategies, and raising money.

Paul Durrant, expert sales and pitching consultant, talks about the 5 P's of pitching to buyers and how your business can incorporate this method to gain more sales and contracts than ever!

11am: How to raise funds for your business
A panel talk on the different ways you can raise funds for your business, as well as their pros and cons, including:

12:30pm: How I made it: Jack Waley-Cohen, founder of what3words - the app that can save your life.
Jack is a co-founder of what3words, having previously been behind the global expansion of translation company Lingo24. In his spare time, he is a professional quiz master and question editor for BBC2 quiz show 'Only Connect'. what3words has created an easy way for people to communicate location by dividing the world into 3mx3m squares each with an address of just 3 dictionary words. It is used by people all around the world and by organisations including car companies, delivery companies and emergency services to help save time, money and lives.

Radha Vyas and Lee Thompson are the founders of Flash Pack, an award-winning travel company revolutionising tired clichés associated with group holidays. 2:30pm: Protecting your IP with the Intellectual Property Office
Every business will own intellectual property - the name you trade under, the look or the function of products you make or use, even the brochures you create to promote your business. The Intellectual Property Office can help you understand how your IP can be protected effectively.

3:00pm: Marketing your business: tips for success
When you had that idea to start your business, chances are you didn’t think you’d have to become a marketing expert. But marketing is crucial to your success and it isn’t as complicated as you might think. Join Minal Patel of Marketing by Minal and she’ll talk you through the route you need to take to become your very own marketing expert.

Small and growing businesses understand the need to get their brands recognised not just in social media, but also print media, as well as radio and TV. This session will tell you how to do just that, but without the need for expensive agencies
