TAKE OVER THE ARCHIVES!
A Fun Filled Activity Day for Children and Their Grown Ups
Morning: 10.30am – 12.30pm Afternoon: 1.30pm-3.30pm Lunchtime: 12.30pm-1.30pm
Come along and join in with lots of different and exciting activities which tell the story of London. LMA is 950 years old this year as our oldest document dates from 1067. Celebrate with us on this fun filled day. Activities will repeat morning and afternoon.
THINGS TO DO
EXHIBITION VISIT: The Londoners: Portrait of a Working City is full of exciting pictures from the archives.
ART, CRAFT and PHOTOGRAPHS
Create Your Own Famous Face Mash-Up: Delve into LMA’s expansive portrait collection to create and collage your own historic face with a twist!
Experimental Portraits: Create experimental drawings of historical Londoners.
The Victorian Selfie: Dress up and create a silhouette portrait of yourself!
Time Travellers: Get into the right outfit, find yourself in a Victorian scene using our green screen and take your picture
Put Yourself On The Map… Create your own map which tells your very own London story
MEET THE NORMANS… Costumed storytellers will introduce London life 950 years ago. You will be able to:
- Write With a Quill and Ink
- Make a Seal
- Become part of the Bayeux Tapestry
ARCHIVE ADVENTURES! Come along and meet the LMA team. They will introduce you to some of LMA’s longest, smallest, heaviest and strangest documents. There will also be demonstrations of conservation techniques, including making repairs and stitching books.
FILM FUN: LMA holds a lot of films which tell the story of London and Londoners. Films will be running throughout the day in our Mediatheque space
BEHIND THE SCENES: During the lunch break there will be short tours behind the scenes. Glimpse the secret world of the archive...
