Event description

Description

Join me for an evening of learning how to capture incredible photographs of iconic London landmarks at night. PLUS i will help you capture amazing long exposure light trails.

With the evenings starting to get shorter, but hopefully stay warmer, the workshop times will be a bit later than usual, but wont last later than 2300 - 2330

There has been many attend from around the UK, so if you need to catch a train back home let me know and I will make sure you need to get to where you need to go on time.

Multiple dates and loctions are available

All are welcome, whether you are a beginner and have just got yourself a new camera, whether you just want to learn how to get clean, crisp long exposures or you want to network and meet other fellow photography enthusiasts! Whatever your experience level, you are welcome.

Perhaps there something you're not quite getting or maybe having difficulty figuring out the right settings? Let me help you.

The aim of these workshops are to provide a fun, friendly, and informative learning environment. You will learn how to shoot fantastic clean and clear long exposures and vastly improve your night photography.

The workshops will be at two different locations, more locations to come.

Workshop 1 will be from St Paul's to Tower Bridge

Workshop 2 will be from the London Eye to Regent Street

Workshop 1: 14TH September

We will be shooting at four famous London locations:

1. St Paul's Cathedral - Long exposures and Light Trails

2. London Bridge - Night photography

3. The Shard - Night Photography

4. Tower Bridge - Long exposures and Light Trails

Workshop 2: 21th September - Open house London weekend

We will be shooting at 3 prime London locations:

1. London Eye Embankment - Long Exposures

2. Westminster Bridge/Big Ben - Long Exposure and Light Trails

3. Piccadilly Circus - Long Exposures and Light Trails

Not only will I be on hand to guide you and explain the best techniques for you to take beautifully clean night photos and crisp long exposures, I will also help you with:

  • Exposure
  • Composition
  • Long shutter speed
  • Bulb mode
  • Light trails
  • Focus techniques
  • Iso settings - How does your iso affect your shot?
  • Aperture settings
  • Manual Mode

Essential Equipment
All you need to bring is your camera and a tripod.
All cameras are welcome! Whether you have an entry level DSLR or entry level mirrorless camera (or even a 35 film camera!), please just ensure that your camera has manual mode on it.

A remote shutter release cable is important but not essential.

If you dont have one, make sure you know how to use the timer for your camera.
A remote shutter release cable reduces camera shake when doing long exposure and increases the chance of a clear and detailed shot.
Personally I always use one, but there are ways to get around it if you do not have one.

**Don't forget to charge your camera batteries and have space on your memory card too!**

Once you have purchased your ticket, you will receive details of the exact location closer to the date.

The workshop is limited to 10 people.
This smaller group setting ensures that each person can have lots of opportunity to receive help and advice throughout the evening.

FAQs

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

If you cannot make it, your ticket can be used at another workshop in the future.

What if it rains?

Depending how bad it gets the workshop will still go ahead. If it looks to be constant rain and generally not very nice weather, i will send out a message on the morning of the workshop to say it is cancelled.

Refunds can be issued or you can use the ticket for another wokshop date.

If it gets cancelled due to the rain, the workshop will be held on the same day the following week. For instance, if the workshop is on a saturday, it will be held the next saturday.
