Welcome to London Met

This one day event is designed to give new Postgraduate Research Students an overview of all the key information you will need to get you started in your research degree.

You will find out about the Research culture and community, expectations and opportunities, who you need to speak to about every aspect of your life as a London Met Research Student, the resources and support available to you and how to access them. You will meet current students and staff, the Research and Postgraduate Office team and other new students.

The programme for the day includes:

09:30 - Welcome and introduction to Postgraduate life at London Met. The day will begin with presentations by Prof. Don MacRaild, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research & Knowledge Exchange and Prof. Klaus Fischer, Head of the Graduate School

10:00 - An introduction to processes and regulations for Postgraduate Research students, Prof. Klaus Fischer & Oliver Brooks, PGR Student Coordinator

10:30 - Supporting your Research, Prof. Klaus Fischer & Maeva Khachfe, Interim Head of Research Implementation

11:00 - London Met's Student Enterprise Programme, Natasha Triay, Student & Graduate Enterprise Manager

11:30 - What is a PhD? Setting expectations, Dr Eirini Meimaridou, PGR Coordinator, School of Human Sciences

12:00 - PGR Student Life, Postgraduate Research Society & Student Union

12:45 - Meet the Supervisors and PGR Coordinators

13:00 - Lunch break

14:00 - Library Services, Rachel Bickley, Senior Academic Liaison Librarian and Peter Fisher, Special Collections Manager

14:45 - Employability Services, Tiffany Platt, Careers Consultant

15:15 - Meet the Supervisors + General Q&A
