London Met SU Black History Month: The Great Debate Tour
Thu 13 October 2016, 17:00 – 21:00 BST
London Metropolitan Students’ Union Black History Month
This year we’ve chosen to celebrate the Black History month under theme, ‘Black History: more than just a month’. We are pleased to be hosting The Great Debate Tour at London Metropolitan University.
The Great Debate Tour is the first and largest national debate forum targeted at cultural communities on Universities campuses across the UK.
The tour is a celebration of diversity and heritage as well as a forum for powerful, thought provoking discussion. With the help of a panel of experts, university students are encouraged to explore issues that our research indicates is most relevant to the audience.
The debate will be focused around three main areas: Black Lives Matter; comparing the US and UK context of the movement and challenging the experiences of each campaign) The EU Referendum; considering how Brexit may deter language students, challenge the traditional skill sets favoured by employers, and exacerbate global competition amongst jobseekers and Career Choices; offering space to explore the role that biases might still play when making career choices.
Venue: London Met - Holloway Road
Room: TM1-83 blue zone
