London on Film Walking Tour
Thu 27 April 2017, 18:00 – 20:30
Thursday 27 April - Start 6pm in front of Tate Britain on Millbank (nearest tube Pimlico), ending around 8/8:30pm in Smithfield (nearest tubes St Paul's / Barbican / Farringdon)
London is an incredibly popular film location. In this 2.5 hour walking tour we will explore the places where some of the most iconic British films and TV series were filmed including; James Bond, Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Who, Mary Poppins and Rom-Coms starring the likes of Hugh Grant and Rene Zellweger. We will learn about the locations themselves and then see how directors were able to use the locations to create historical, modern and fictional film and TV locations. We will enjoy back stage gossip, discuss why particular locations were chosen and recreate iconic film scenes ourselves!
Note: please bring an Oyster card or travelcard with you as we shall be taking a couple of bus journeys during the tour.
Our tour will be led by Caroline Piper (a member of CamSocLon!). Caroline is a London Blue Badge Tourist Guide, the highest tourist guiding qualification available and a Cambridge University history graduate. You can find out more about Caroline on her Piper tours website http://pipertours.com/ where you can also find links to her Facebook page, Tripadvisor page and memberships of professional guiding bodies.
