We are holding a London-Wide Primary Care Community of Practice on the 7th December 12.30 – 17.00 here at LSBU,with invited guests sharing international and local case studies.

The topics practices and primary care teams will be exploring are:

  1. Securing robust primary care teams – Guest Speaker Prof Jean Louis Denis from University of Montreal, who has worked all over the world on collaborations for quality.

  2. Primary Care fit for the future – reducing demand in primary care, an example. Guest Speaker: Mev Forbes Partner, Robin Lane Health and Wellbeing Centre, sharing how managing appointments, rethinking skills mix, focusing services, and working very differently with community assets has allowed the practice to grow.

  3. Data – the data team here at LSBU will share how we are working with practices to generate change.

In addition all practices and teams joining the event will be sharing their work on managing demand.

Guest Speakers:

Prof Jean-Louis Denis, University of Montreal

Jean-Louis Denis, holds the Canada research chair on Health System Design and Adaptation. He is Senior Scientist, Health System and Innovation at the Research Center of the CHUM (CRCHUM), and Visiting Professor, Department of Management, King’s College London. His current research looks at integration of care and services, health care reforms and health system transformation, medical compensation, professional leadership and clinical governance. He is a faculty member of the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement, where he undertook a major piece of work reviewing and comparing high performing health systems to find out what really made them tick.

Mev Forbes, Robin Lane Health and Wellbeing Centre

is a Managing Partner at Robin Lane health and Wellbeing Centre, in Leeds. Since 2012 they have been able tonincrease thier list size by 4,500 people without incurring any extra costs, by changing skill mix and reducing demand. Mev will share the story of this huge transformation in the practice and the establishment of the coproduced charity that works alongside the practice.
