  • The Evolution from Smart Streetlighting to Intelligent Dimming

How AI and Real-Time Data Are Enhancing Streetlight Dimming Operations

As electricity prices fluctuate and the demand for greater operational efficiency continues to rise, streetlighting networks face increasing pressure to deliver more with less. To strike the right balance between energy savings and public safety, a more intelligent, responsive approach to dimming is essential.

Enter Intelligent Dimming — a data-driven lighting strategy powered by live inputs such as traffic flow, weather conditions, incidents and other contextual factors. By applying real-time data and AI, cities can optimize their smart lighting investments while maintaining the levels of illumination necessary for safety and visibility.

This presentation will explore:

  • The potential improvements and efficiencies made possible through Intelligent Dimming
  • The technologies and data sources available — and how they compare
  • Best-fit dimming strategies for different street types and lighting classifications
  • How current lighting standards, regulations, and guidelines align with Intelligent Dimming approaches
  • Market adoption trends and insights from real-world deployment
