Event description

Description

Nine days before the Ashes series begins in Perth, Australia, England's Director of Cricket and former captain Andrew Strauss is coming to the London Sporting Club to reflect on an astonishing career both on and now off the pitch. Strauss played 100 tests for England, scoring 21 tons in the process, including two during England's epic Ashes win over their greatest rival in cricket in 2005. In total he scored over 7,000 runs in test match cricket during his eight year career at the international level. He also became only the third England captain to lead his country to Ashes wins both home and away before retiring in 2012. Three years' later he was appointed Director of Cricket and oversaw the sacking of head coach Peter Moores and the appointment of the present head coach, Trevor Bayliss, which has proved largely successful. Hear how he played such a huge part in three Ashes series wins, about his famous teammates and life now as the boss as England head down under for the biggest series in world cricket.
