London's Just Transition
Event Information
About this event
The phrase ‘just transition’ often refers simply to re-skilling workers for zero-carbon jobs. But the LSDC also sees an urgent need to ask what an equitable transition to the zero-carbon economy will mean for Londoners:
• Who are winners and losers of the switch to a zero-carbon economy? (Which sectors, neighbourhoods, demographics? How do we support them?)
• How do we convene people in dialogue? (Ensuring all our communities have a voice in shaping London’s future vision: resilient, healthy places; decent workplaces; accessible and equitable mobility, housing and infrastructure.)
• How do we govern and co-create solutions? (Equipping our institutions to respond to new, complex challenges and shocks such as heatwaves.)
The conference will address these questions in relation to three themes:
1. Jobs and skills;
2. Governance;
3. Communities.
Join the LSDC and a diverse group of London policy-makers, activists, academics, business leaders and trades unionists who share a passion for these issues, as we explore what is needed to achieve London’s just transition.
