Event description

Description

This January you have the opportunity to create the causes of long life, wisdom and merit.

In this two-day weekend retreat with Resident Teacher Kadam John McBretney, we engage in the practice of the Yoga of Buddha Amitayus.

Long life, Wisdom and Merit - Amitayus Retreat
19 to 20 January 2018

Our human life is our extremely precious possession because it offers us the opportunity to improve ourselves and attain the supreme happiness of enlightenment. For this reason, we need a long and healthy life. To engage successfully in spiritual practice we also need wisdom, as well as the merit, or good fortune, which gives our mind the strength to support the growth of inner realisations and fulfil all our wishes.

Amitayus is the Buddha of long life, merit and wisdom. By engaging in Amitayus practice, we can develop these qualities and eventually attain the deathless state of enlightenment. We can also use this practice to help remove obstacles endangering the lives of others, especially our close friends and family.

There are three 75 minute sessions each day:

Session one: 10:30 am,
Session two: 3:00 pm,
Session four: 5:00 pm.

All sessions include chanted prayers, meditation and dedication prayers.

Seating is offered on chairs and cushions on the floor.

It is customary but not essential to bring an offering to the retreat each day (such as food, flowers or candles).

Please register on Eventbrite to let us know you are coming or simply drop in and join us for the sessions you wish to attend as your time permits.

EVERYONE WELCOME

Suggested donation £2.00 for each session or £6.00 for the day.

If you have any questions, please give us a call on 020 8455 7563.
