Long Night: 25 years in Afghanistan – documentary screening and panel discussion

The Royal College of Surgeons of England is delighted to collaborate with the international humanitarian organisation EMERGENCY to host and screen Long Night, a documentary created by Emmy-winning investigative journalist and producer Lynzy Billing.

Long Night tells the story of EMERGENCY’s 25 years of work in Afghanistan, through the first-hand accounts of Afghan healthcare workers and their patients at EMERGENCY’s hospital facilities across a country debilitated by decades of conflict. Through a series of intimate interviews, the film shares the extraordinary story of how people in Afghanistan continue to confront the reality of war and its legacy every day.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with panellists, film-maker Lynzy Billing, Rossella Miccio, President of EMERGENCY and Dr Mir Abdul Azim, Chief Surgeon at EMERGENCY Kabul Surgical Centre, Afghanistan.
