Let us help you prepare for the new linear exams.

How prepared are your pupils for the new linear exams?

Do they know which study approaches are most effective for retaining everything they’ve learned?

Are they able to retrieve and apply all that you’ve taught them?

Do you know how to plan the most effective lessons, curriculum sequences and study patterns for long-term learning and not just short-term performance?

Our Long Term Learning course will show how you can use research to design effective lessons and curriculum sequences for long term learning and progress. We will provide you with evidence-informed resources that you can take away and use immediately to support students in their revision and study.

Our course draws on expertise from within the Research Schools Network (including Shaun Allison and Andy Tharby) and evidence from cognitive science to bring you the approaches that will improve memory retention and recall, and support planning to promote depth and scope of student knowledge.

The course is delivered by Dr Niki Kaiser (Chemistry teacher, Network Research Lead, co-founder of the CogSciSci network, organiser of Cognition in Science 2017) and Vicki Barnett (History teacher and Research Lead) with support from Dr Flavia Belham (Neuroscientist, Chief Scientific Officer at Seneca Learn)

The target audience for this course is secondary curriculum leaders, subject leaders, and classroom teachers.

Norwich Opportunity Area schools who wish to send delegates to this course will be able to claim back cover costs for all three sessions. In addition, we are offering an extra discount on the cost of the course to OA schools - please get in touch with Norwich Research School to find out more.

Day One – Wednesday 21 February 9am-3pm:
Discussion of the key issues facing students, teachers and leaders; introduction to the research evidence and consideration of how this applies within our contexts; action planning.

Day Two – Wednesday 18 April 9am-3pm:
Reflection and review; in-depth look at key research evidence; evaluation and refinement of action plans.

Day Three – Wednesday 20 June 9am-3pm:
Evaluation, feedback and next steps.
