Join local historian, Mark Camp for a boat ride to and an escorted walk around Looe Island Nature Reserve.

About this event

During the 3 hour visit (combining a walk and slide show) you’ll learn of the Island’s intriguing history. You’ll also be able to enjoy fantastic views and wildlife spotting.

This event takes place on Tuesday 12th July (boat departs Looe at 2.15pm and arrives back in Looe at 5.45pm). The boat ride out to the island takes around 15 minutes and you will have 3 hours on island before the return boat trip back into Looe.

There are just 10 places available. As well as making this a very exclusive trip the numbers are limited by the capacity of the boat. All places must be booked via these pages.

Here is some more essential information about this unique trip:

· You will need to arrive in East Looe at least 15 minutes prior to your departure time. Due to the tides the departure cannot be delayed under any circumstances.

· Upon arrival the boat uses a landing ramp that is affected by movement of waves and involves a step over the side of the boat and means that sometimes feet can get wet. We regret this is not wheelchair-friendly.

· To give you the best chance of enjoying the island's wildlife please bring binoculars if you have them.

· In places the path around the nature reserve is very steep and uneven, it can also be slippery so please bring appropriate footwear.

· There is no shelter on the boat or the island, so please bring suitable clothing and be prepared for changeable weather.

· The guided walk is not appropriate for children under 11 years old and those aged 11-16 must be accompanied by an adult.

· Sorry, dogs are not allowed.

· In poor weather conditions and rough seas the boat cannot safely ferry passengers to the island, meaning guided walks may, on occasion have to be cancelled. You will receive a full refund in this case. If we have to cancel your guided walk we will contact you around 11am on the day of your walk using the contact details you provided when you made your booking. Please email looeisland@cornwallwildlifetrust.org.uk if you wish to provide additional contact details.

If arriving by car:

Please note that the roads leading through East Looe to the boat departure point are narrow/often congested. Parking in Looe is limited but there is a large Long Stay Pay and Display car park at Millpool which is located alongside the West Looe River.
