Overview
Monthly sessions in the Hunterian Art Gallery for experiencing artworks in new ways
At Look Club, we'll be encountering artworks together by starting from scratch with no prior knowledge or historical context. There are no right or wrong answers, only opinions and perspectives. Enjoy this unique session to think deeply and share a space for listening.
Come along and meet new people, increase your own sense of confidence and take time to be culturally curious!
Join us in the Hunterian Art Gallery and experience art in a way you haven't before. No prior knowledge of art is necessary! Sessions take place at 12pm on the first Wednesday of each month.
Look out for extra tour dates including Saturday 8 March for International Women's Day, where we'll be looking at works by women and works with women sitters.
A specific approach to looking at art, known as Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS), was co developed by Abigail Housen, Harvard Cognitive Psychologist, and Philip Yenawine, Director of Education at MOMA between the years of 1988-199. This method is initiated by facilitated discussions of art images and jumpstarts a process of learning to think deeply. It enhances and encourages thinking skills, provides oral and written language literacy, visual literacy, and collaborative interactions among peers.
