Event description

Description

This academic symposium marks the launch of the University of Bristol’s new Centre for Health, Law, and Society. This centre of research and learning promotes cross-disciplinary and cross-sector perspectives on the impacts of law and governance on physical, mental, and social wellbeing.

Based within the University of Bristol Law School, the Centre for Health, Law, and Society comprises leading scholars whose work focuses on wide-ranging practical areas from within and far beyond health care systems, including clinical medicine, reproductive care, mental health, social care, and public and global health. We address these through varied critical and methodological approaches, including historical, philosophical, and political analyses of health and law, and are committed to ongoing collaborations and engagement with partners involved in legal practice, regulation, and social advocacy.

Our launch event celebrates the work of scholars within the Centre, emphasising the links between health law scholarship and policy and practice.

Thanks to generous funding from the University of Bristol Law School this event is free to attend.
