About this Event

'Looking out for Lottie' resources have recently updated in collaboration with the NSPCC.

Interactive Online Training

In this training session there will be a brief introduction to CSE in the UK, along with a suggested reading list for further exploration. You will have the opportunity to explore the chapters of the interactive simulation in small groups, through breakout rooms in Zoom. The sessions will be a mix of interactive break out rooms and whole group discussion. The places on these sessions are strictly limited to 8 participants to ensure opportunity for engagement in conversations.

As we are all becoming more familiar with online platforms and  to ensure the smooth running of the session, there will be a short 10-15 minute Zoom meeting with each participant and the trainer the day before. In this session we will run through Zoom for those not familiar and access logins will be given for the interactive simulation and the Zoom session.

Once the training session is complete each participant will receive a CPD accredited certificate.   You will also receive a 12 month licence to use the simulation in your workplace.

Background

Developed with NHS Health Education Kent, Surrey and Sussex, ‘Lottie’ offers health and social care and education professionals the opportunity to train on key aspects of online CSE - gaining insight into the process and implications for the victim and groomer. It is an interactive and immersive simulation, for use by both professionals and young people, on how young people are groomed online for sexual exploitation. It follows the story, on social media, of a schoolgirl Lottie and how she becomes involved with Jake, a seemingly plausible young man. By following the simulation, professionals are able to gain insight into the process, and the behaviour of the groomer and the victim.
