    About this event

This training will help to give professionals in schools the confidence to talk openly and honestly about death and grief with their pupils.

Death is a topic which is often referred to as 'taboo' as many people find death and grief difficult to talk about. Adults, including professionals, worry that they will say the wrong thing, particularly when talking to young people. However, school can provide a safe space where conversations about death and grief can help pupils to make sense of this difficult topic.

Teaching young people about death and grief enables pupils to talk about death, to ask questions and to find out more about grief. This can help them to understand bereavement, to prepare for any bereavement in the future and to be more supportive to a bereaved friend or family member.

    This training course will include:

    • Introducing the topics of death and grief

    • Initiating conversations about death and grief

    • Answering difficult questions

    • Providing support to pupils and members of staff

    • Embedding death and grief into the curriculum

    • Resources to support learning
