About this event
🍻 NOT JUST PUBS!! (But 85% pubs...)
Come on a stroll through SE27 to salute the hostelries we have lost over the years - and support the ones we still have. As we wander you'll learn when Lower Norwood moved West, why the High Street isn't really the high street, how much the Crystal Palace upset poor old Ruskin, and who or what was responsible for all pubs* now playing music just that tiny bit louder than you would really like.
Whether you're new to West Norwood or you've been knocking about for years (like your guide, who is now too old to handle music in pubs) this walk is perfect for curious locals keen to see our streets in a whole new light.
🕛Meet for a prompt start outside West Norwood Picturehouse & Library

📍Our tour will finish outside Knowles of Norwood, close to lots of transport options and places to eat and drink.

Frequently asked questions
We will finish close to a few different West Norwood pubs, if you would like to visit a pub after the walk. If you would like a walk that DOES involve stops at a couple of pubs, watch this space as there is one in the planning.
There are toilets at the start and end point of the walk.
There are a few slopes to tackle on this tour, but nothing too challenging. We'll be walking on pavements throughout - no off roading!
Of course! All welcome - and there are lots of places besides pubs to eat and drink if you fancy a little sit down at the end of the walk.
No under 18s on this walk - but babes in arms/slings that are carried are welcome, if you feel up to carrying them for the duration of the tour. Specific pushchair and coffee walks are planned so watch this space!
This walk isn't suitable for dogs, alas. Follow me on Eventbrite to see my other walks, some of which might be suitable for canine companions!
Please dress appropriately for the weather - bring a brolly or a raincoat if it's wet, and a hat and/or sunglasses in the event of blazing heat.
We will begin the tour outside the library, so can accommodate latecomers within the first five minutes of the walk. If you are later than this, you might not be able to find us to catch up so do plan to arrive in good time.
Refunds can be offered up to three days in advance of the tour - or you can swap your ticket to a different time and date.
