About LOTI

The London Office of Technology and Innovation (LOTI) was established in July 2019 to help boroughs collaborate on digital, data and innovation projects to improve public services for Londoners. Context

LOTI has been working with boroughs for over a year to help them make more effective use of assistive technology (AT). Read more about the project to date, here. Borough AT Leads have reported being aware of the upcoming analogue-to-digital switchover affecting the use of ATs in telecare, and want to feel more informed about its impact and how they need to prepare. In particular, they are keen to ensure vulnerable residents who rely on ATs end up being better rather than worse off as a result of the change.

The audience

This session is primarily intended for Assistive Technology Leads from London boroughs who have some background understanding of the key issues surrounding the switchover and telecare provision and wish to explore the impact this will have in practice.

What do we hope to cover in this session?

Boroughs are keen to understand more about who’s involved in the switchover and what key considerations they need to be aware of.

We will hear from Huw Saunders (Ofcom Director, Network Infrastructure and Resilience), John Livermore (Openreach ALL IP Industry Engagement Manager), and David Christie (Virgin Media Senior Regulatory Specialist). Each speaker will share details of their organisation’s role in the switchover, and their perspectives on what boroughs need to know and do.
