At our next WI meeting on Tuesday 4 April, we'll be meeting a member of London Zoo's conservation team to hear all about their campaign 'One Less', which is working towards making London free of single-use plastic water bottles.
Plastic pollution is one of the major threats to the world’s ocean, and it is predicted that if nothing changes, by 2025 there will be one tonne of plastic for every three tonnes of fish in the ocean.
We'll be learning how we can help them with their campaign, as well some of their other marine conservation projects.
For anyone not aware, the resolution 'Plastic Soup' is one of the WI's two potential campaigns up for vote at the Annual Meeting in June, so this is a very topical meeting!
This event is free to members of the Ladies of the Lock Women's Institute group, and £5 for guests, to be paid on the door on the night. Our meetings are open to anyone who identifies as female.
