Loughborough Jewels Workshop for Families
Sat 30 January 2016, 13:30 – 15:30 GMT
Join jeweller and jewellery historian Roberta Bernabei in the creation of a new series of brooches as part of a project entitled Loughborough Jewels! This participatory project seeks to share and preserve memories of the Market Town of Loughborough.
This project gives you the chance to create your own unique brooch in a FREE workshop with Roberta - this workshop is designed especially for children aged 5+ and their families.
PLEASE NOTE THAT PARENTS/GUARDIANS DO NOT NEED TO BOOK A TICKET TO ATTEND.
You will be asked to bring along an image, photograph or object relating to your memories of Loughborough. Roberta will take a record of your object and ask you to describe it and its significance to you and the town. Your object and information will then be combined with the appearance of a window frame found somewhere in Loughborough to form the basis of your brooch design.
As the brooches are created they will be added to a special exhibition in the Market Town Corner, which will take the form of an installation creating a wall of memories. At the end of the exhibition all participants will be able to keep their brooch. The exhibition will be available for viewing at the following times:
Thurs 28 January 11am - 4pm
Friday 29 January 11am - 4pm
Saturday 30 January 10am - 1pm
