About this event

We’re thrilled to be joined by Louise Candlish and Gillian McAllister in celebration of their latest releases; Our Holiday and Just Another Missing Person. They will be in conversation with Jane Casey.

From the author of the megaselling Our House and The Only Suspect; Our Holiday is another dark, scalpel-sharp thriller that peels away the veneer of middle-class propriety, when two privileged city couples enjoying their second homes in the countryside are challenged by a group of embittered locals.

Just Another Missing Person follows Detective Chief Inspector Julia Day, who finds herself tasked with a missing person case like no other. Olivia is 22 years old, with no history of running away. She was last seen on CCTV, entering a dead-end alley and never emerging.

Julia ought to be out hunting for Olivia - after all, missing persons cases are a race against the clock. Only this one is different. Because someone just threatened Julia: Find Olivia, and we'll take your daughter...

Louise Candlish is the bestselling author of 16 novels and her books are published all over the world. Her book Our House was adapted into a major four-part ITV drama and won the 2019 British Book Awards Crime and Thriller Book of the Year. She lives in a South London neighbourhood not unlike the one in her books, with her husband, daughter (when she's not at uni), and a fox-red Labrador called Bertie who is the apple of her eye. For more book news (and doting pictures of Bertie, regularly updated!), catch her on Twitter @louise_candlish, on Instagram @louisecandlish or facebook.com/LouiseCandlishAuthor.

Gillian McAllister is the Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author of former Thriller Book of the Month Wrong Place Wrong Time, which was also a Reese’s Book Club and BBC Radio 2 Book Club pick. Other books written by Gillian include Everything but the Truth, Anything You Do Say, The Evidence Against You, How to Disappear, and the Richard & Judy Book Club pick That Night. She graduated with an English degree before working as a lawyer. She lives in Worcestershire, England, where she now writes full-time. She is also the creator and co-host of the popular Honest Authors podcast.

Jane Casey was born and brought up in Dublin. A former editor, she has written twelve crime novels for adults and three for teenagers. Her books have been international bestsellers, critically acclaimed for their realism and accuracy. The Maeve Kerrigan series has been nominated for many awards: in 2015 Jane won the Mary Higgins Clark Award for The Stranger You Know and Irish Crime Novel of the Year for After the Fire. In 2019, Cruel Acts was chosen as Irish Crime Novel of the Year at the Irish Book Awards. It was a Sunday Times bestseller. The Killing Kind was a Richard and Judy Book Club pick in 2021, and is being adapted for television. Jane lives in southwest London with her husband, who is a criminal barrister, and their two children.

Please note: Book and ticket options include a copy of Just Another Missing Person (RRP. £8.99) or Our Holiday (RRP. £9.99) which will be available for collection on the night.
