Event description

Description

Saturday 14th October, 7pm
Roughlee Village Centre

Award winning singer, songwriter and musician Louise Jordan tells the stories, through song, of women from the First World War who challenged expectations. From the woman who dressed as a soldier on the Western Front to the women football players banned by the FA, No Petticoats Here raises awareness of inspirational women and their remarkable achievements.

Through this one woman show, former history teacher turned professional musician Louise Jordan brings to life the courage and dedication of nurses, ambulance drivers, factory workers, spies and inventors. Expect musicianship, humour, costume and chorus songs that you’ll be singing on the way home.

No Petticoats Here is based on 18 months of research gathered on field trips, in museums, archives, journals and from the relatives of these extraordinary women.

“If my history teacher taught me stories like that, I would definitely listen!” – Josie (14 yrs), Portsmouth, October 2016

“One of the most touching and powerful folk albums of the year so far.” – The Sunday Express, October 2016

“A landmark album that is engrossing and entrancing and a fitting tribute to some exceptional women.” – FolkWords, Tim Carroll, September 2016
