Event description

Description

Join the Friends of the Alexander Technique and a group of London based singers and instrumentalists for a summer evening of Arias and Songs at beautiful Leighton House Museum near Holland Park.

2019 marks the 150th birthday of Frederick Matthias Alexander, an Australian actor who developed the Alexander Technique, a method of muscular re-education which has become standard training not only for singers, but also actors and dancers and nowadays is gaining increasing popularity amongst people of all ages and walks of live.

We mark this occasion by exploring the theme of ’Love and the Sea’ in Songs and Arias by composers such as Elgar, Handel, Bizet, Schubert, Strauss, Debussy, Faure and Joanna Sleight.

And we raise a glas to F.M. Alexander’s special birthday, as an interval drink is included in the ticket price - as is the entry to Leighton House Museum (home of painter Frederic Leighton), famous for its beautiful, elaborate Orientalist interiors - doors open at 18:30h, allowing for a stroll ahead of the concert!

Start: 19:30h - Doors open at 18:30h

Tickets: £15 (regular) / £8 (concession 60)

Performers:

Joanna Sleight, Mezzo-Soprano

Christine Jasper, Alto

Daniel Owers, Tenor

Mark Fletcher, Countertenor
