Love in London - A London Walks Valentine's Virtual Tour
Event Information
About this Event
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a Valentine’s virtual tour from London Walks!
From love struck lovers to royal romances to dangerous liaisons - we celebrate love in London in all its many forms.
The Origins of Love: We reveal the (not so) romantic life of St Valentine & how Geoffrey Chaucer introduced St Valentine’s Day to England.
Love in Art: We meet some of the greatest lovers in Western art including Bacchus & Ariadne, Mars & Venus, and a painting in which Cupid is forced to look away!
Shakespeare in Love: We recite a sonnet or two and explore the identity of the ‘fair youth & the Dark Lady’. We'll also visit the Bard on the outside of London’s most romantic theatre.
Love at the Palace: We peek past the palace doors to discover the truth behind some of Britain’s royal romances, from a medieval monument about a marriage made in heaven to meddling mistresses…!
The ‘Love That Dare Not Speak Its Name': We pay tribute to LGBTQ+ trailblazers who risked everything for love.
Locations for Love: And finally, we virtually visit London's most romantic railway station as well as luxury hotels for lovers, not to mention a virtual Valentine vista or two!
