Imagine a time when every letter carried the weight of a precious secret, and sending just one was a luxury. The Georgian era, despite the high cost of postage, became the golden age of letter writing—a world where words connected hearts across distances.

Step into Louisa’s shoes as she sets out from 16 New Street, clutching cherished letters, winding her way through the bustling streets to the Post Office in Hue Street. Her journey doesn’t end there; follow her to the Societe Jersiaise, where you’ll discover real letters penned in the early 1800s, each one a window into the hopes and stories of the past.

And so strolling back to 16 New Street we'll come across our library—a place that, if the stories are true, was cherished by the many French émigrés who found refuge in Jersey during the French Revolution, though perhaps less so by the locals.

A walk of 1.5 miles. 2 hours easy walking.
