Love Unleashed is a new series of events, workshops and talks focussing on queerness, kink, sensuality, sexuality and gender in London's cosiest event space, Love Shack.

These events bring together some of London's top sexuality and kink educators, experts and professionals to share their knowledge in an intimate and informal setting on the third Thursday of the month.

We welcome everyone, from the carefully curious to the exceptionally experienced.

Each evening features a one hour talk or workshop, followed by a Q&A and a social.

Tickets are priced at £12.50, with a limited number of reduced tickets at £10 for those struggling. We also have an option to pay £15, for those feeling flush this month and happy to pay a bit more to support the venue and workshop leaders.

Doors 7pm, event starts at 8pm sharp (please try to arrive on time to avoid disruption).

20th November - Drop Happens, with Matua Sol

Drop Happens

Overview
This session explores one of the most overlooked yet deeply important aspects of kink and BDSM play: the emotional and physiological crash known as drop. Whether it appears as a wave of sadness, physical fatigue, anxiety, or emotional vulnerability, drop is a common experience after intense scenes. Understanding how to navigate it can be the difference between a play session that feels safe and supported, and one that leaves participants feeling lost or alone.

This workshop offers clear, accessible tools to recognise, plan for, and recover from drop. Participants will leave with practical strategies for supporting themselves and their partners before, during, and after play. We will also examine how different dynamics and relationship styles affect aftercare needs, and how to communicate these effectively within negotiations and ongoing dynamics.

Target Audience
This workshop is suitable for all experience levels. It is particularly relevant for:

  • New or experienced players who have experienced drop and want to better understand it
  • Dominants and Tops who want to offer safer, more informed support to their partners
  • Submissives and bottoms navigating emotional or physical recovery after play
  • Anyone looking to create a more sustainable and emotionally grounded kink practice

Key Topics

  • What causes drop: hormonal shifts, nervous system responses, and psychological factors
  • The many faces of drop: from irritability and shame to fatigue and detachment
  • How to plan for drop in advance, including aftercare negotiations and solo preparation
  • Personalised aftercare frameworks for different play styles and relationship dynamics
  • Supporting a partner through drop without overextending yourself or crossing boundaries
  • Language and tools for talking about drop in ways that build trust and reduce shame

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the session, participants will:

  • Understand the physical and emotional mechanisms behind drop
  • Be able to recognise common drop symptoms in themselves and others
  • Have tools for creating a personalised aftercare plan, even when playing solo
  • Feel more confident supporting a partner through drop with empathy and clarity
  • Gain practical strategies for integrating drop-awareness into scene planning and post-scene debriefs

Format and Delivery
This workshop is typically delivered in a 90-minute format and combines clear teaching with reflective exercises and optional group discussion. It can be adapted for shorter or longer sessions, and may include:

  • A guided worksheet to help map personal aftercare needs
  • Scenario-based discussions on supporting others through drop
  • A take-home planning template for solo or partnered aftercare

Accessibility
This session is trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ inclusive, neurodiversity-aware, and welcoming to all genders, relationship structures, and roles. Participants are never required to share personal experiences and are encouraged to engage in whatever way feels safe and comfortable.
