Love Your Clothes Re-use & Repair Workshop
Sat 17 September 2016, 13:00 – 16:00 BST
Significant Seams are hosting a free Re-use and Recycle workshop in collaboration with Resource London and London Borough of Waltham Forest and as part of the Recycle for London campaign.
As part of the Love Your Clothes repair and re-use focused workshop, Significant Seams aims to help local residents make their clothes last longer by showing how to repair and alter them using simple techniques to patch, hem, replace buttons etc. We'll also be demonstrating how to up-cycle and re-work pieces of clothing to give them new life and re-styling and accessorising them creatively to help people fall back in love with their old clothes - reusing what they already own Instead of costuming more!
The workshop is free but pre-booking for this workshop is essential!
Resource London is a jointly funded support programme for London waste authorities, delivered in partnership by the London Waste and Recycling Board and WRAP, the UK’s resource efficiency body.
Its primary goal is to help local authorities across London achieve 50% recycling by 2020. The stated objectives of the programme are to:
achieve the Mayor of London’s target that London recycles 50% of local authority collected waste by 2020;
make an effective contribution to the Mayor of London’s CO2 emissions performance standard; and
make a significant contribution towards England achieving its 50% household waste recycling target in 2020.
