About this event

The case for love in care is not new, but the call to embed it has never been louder. From the 2015 Children’s Homes Regulations to the 2023 Supported Accommodation Standards, statutory guidance affirms that young people deserve to feel loved, safe, and supported to thrive.

And in Scotland, the Care Review’s vision put it simply: love must be at the heart of the care system.

Despite widespread recognition, barriers remain. Lovin' Care is a virtual training session designed for sector leaders ready to transform that recognition into confident, values-led practice.

This session explores how to create care environments where mutually loving relationships between staff and children can safely flourish, emotionally informed, regulation-aligned, and grounded in relational intelligence.

What we’ll explore together:

  • What are our fears around love—and how do we honour, not silence, them?
  • How can love transforms the outcomes and sense of self for children in care?
  • What does a culture that allows love to flourish look and feel like?
  • How do we help children who have experienced abuse to feel safely loved?
  • What support do staff need to love well and wisely?
  • How do we build emotionally literate systems and processes that make love replicable—not risky?
  • How can the Children’s Homes & Support accommodation regulations, and the SCCIF framework actively support and evidence Lovin' Care?

Why this session?

  • Award-winning impact: CHQ was honoured with the 2024 Foundervine Future Award for Social Impact Leadership for its Lovin' Care work.
  • Outstanding evaluations: The overwhelming majority of participants rated this session as outstanding.
  • Real practice change: Homes committed to embedding Lovin’ Care into their ethos, language, and vision.

“Amazing training that leads us and gives us confidence as adults to embed a true love-led approach and to make a genuine difference to the lives and experiences of children and young people we care for.

“It has confirmed more than anything that this approach that I have desperately tried to implant everywhere throughout my career and often hit barriers, is the right approach and does make a significant difference to children’s experiences and outcomes .”

“I fully recommend the CHQ training. It is informative, engaging and fun. I finished the session with a feeling of ‘love’ and feel confident in moving forward with embedding love within our organisation.”

“This training provided me with the opportunity to consider embedding love within our service, on a multitude of levels.

Let’s move past the fear and into thoughtful action.
Let’s give our adults/staff and our children permission to love and be loved.
