Event description

Description

One of the biggest misconceptions when it comes to growing your own food is that you need a lot of money to do it.

The good news is that growing your own food doesn't have to be expensive!

But you need to know the right way to do this.

Liz Zorab and Huw Richards have come together to create the Low-Cost Kitchen Gardening course to show you just how simple and easy it is to produce an abundance of food for extremely low costs, or even for free!

What to expect

You will learn exactly how to use readily available resources from your local area to drastically reduce costs and maximize productivity.

You will also learn about how to strategically plan your space to grow crops which will save you money and give you multiple harvests from the same area throughout the year.

Multiplying your own plants is a fantastic way to reduce the costs of gardening, whilst giving you more food. Propagation methods such as taking cuttings, layering and dividing are taught on this course, along with a discussion on what vegetables are the easiest for seed saving, and how to do it.

Another key aspect you will learn is about working together with other local growers, using clever methods and schemes to slash costs year-on-year.

This is a fun course which is all about inspiring you to produce more food whilst reducing costs and saving money and having a great time along the way. If you are a complete beginner grower or even a seasoned gardener, there is something for everyone to learn from this course.

On the day

Make sure you bring some warm clothes, gardening gloves and of course, some wellies!

Please arrive around 10am for refreshments and chat so we can begin promptly at 10:30m. Full details of the course location and how to get there will be provided after registering for the course.

Included in the course price are refreshments throughout the day and a lovely cooked lunch (vegetarian and gluten and nut free!). If you have any other dietary requirements, then please get in touch using the contact details below.

The course is held approximately 5 minutes from Chepstow and roughly 7 minutes from the original Severn Bridge (which is now free to cross!). We are at the beautiful location of Byther Farm for this course.

If you have any further questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch by phone (07984 654930) or email (huw@huwsnursery.co.uk).
