What skills and/or knowledge will the event cover?

Lowhills Training is an employment based (in-house) training scheme provided by Aberdeen City Council (or contracted partners) for their employees, sanctioned volunteers and partner organisations. The scheme operates within the Council’s management procedures and policies of safe practice.

Entry to the scheme is designed to encourage those members of staff with minimal hillwalking experience to participate in training, enabling them to lead groups on low hills terrain.

Lowhills training is intended to provide staff with a basic level of knowledge and expertise to lead and supervise groups on this terrain.

Expected Outcomes:

What can I, and ultimately the young people I work with, gain as a result of me attending this event?

The Low Hills Refresher is designed as update training course for any staff who have completed the full Low Hills training within the last 3-5 years.  This course is a mandatory update for anyone who wishes to continue supervising groups of young people in the outdoors outwith this time period.

This refresher training will provide staff with a basic level of knowledge and expertise to lead and supervise groups on terrain between 300m – 600m.

Candidates should bring along their updated Low Hills logbook, and are expected to bring along kit suitable for hill walking.

Please note that there is a charge of £65 for ACC employees and £85 for non-Aberdeen City Council employees to attend this event.
