About this Event

Low Waste Lockdown Special!

Join the Sunny Jar Team for their introduction to bread making.

If there is one skill we have learned during Lockdown it is definitely how to make our own delicious bread! As daunting it was, all we needed was to be shown how to and get started!

For this hands-on and informal workshop Linda and Maud will show you how they make their bread at home, using both sourdough and no knead techniques. They will guide you through each stage of the process so you will leave with the skill and confidence to start making your own bread.

Homemade bread is healthier, with no additives- just flour, water, yeast and a bit of salt. It is better for the environment as it minimises the amount of packaging used and you can make exactly the quantity you need, reducing food waste. And it taste great!

A perfect workshop to learn something new, and share tips on living sustainably.

If you want to bake along you will need:

No knead bread:

  • 3 cups bread flour (white flour or combination of white and wholemeal- 100% wholemeal is possible, however can be dense)
  • 1.5 cups of lukewarm water
  • ¼ tsp yeast
  • 1 tsp salt

Sourdough:

  • 4 cups bread flour (500g) white flour or combination of white and wholemeal- 100% wholemeal is possible, however can be dense)
