About this event

Book your evening visit to Lowdham Signal Box

The evening visits allow you to see the box in the twilight or dark, which is a very different experience to the daytime visits. You can see the signal lights outside, and the box is dimly lit.

Lowdham signal box was taken out of use in 2016, has been relocated and is restored to its former glory. Come and see what it was like to be a railway signaller in the 1950s, and have a go.

As the venue is quite small, we have to limit visitor numbers. To avoid disappointment, please book your visit in advance.

Please try to arrive at the start of your timeslot as we do a tour and explain how it all works.

Access is over uneven ground and up a staircase, so not suitable for those with reduced mobility. As the lino floor is easily damaged, we ask you to wear shoes without high heels.

Please note that out of courtesy to our neighbours, we ask you not to park in 'The Sidings'. There is on-street parking in Station Road, and over the level crossing on Gunthorpe Road or Caythorpe Road. You can of course arrive by train, as the signal box is less than 100 yards from the station entrance.

We ask that children be accompanied by an adult.

We do not have any toilet facilities.
