LSE EMBRACE invites you to a lunchtime talk on ‘Black Women in Leadership’. This is a session you cannot afford to miss - irrespective of gender or race!

Come and listen to Dr Vanessa Iwowo, LSE Fellow in Management, take us through the journeys of a black educated woman – in modern day society. This talk explores the challenges faced by the average woman and highlights the deeper challenges of the black woman in particular.

Dr Iwowo is LSE Fellow in Management. She is an award-winning management scholar whose research focuses on ways of enhancing leadership development in Africa. Her interests lie in the critical study of processes, interactions and power relationships through which knowledge is generated and disseminated, particularly in the fields of leadership development and management education. Before joining LSE where she currently lectures in Leadership, Vanessa taught at the Centre for Leadership Studies, University of Exeter Business School from where she also received her PhD in Leadership Studies. Her research in critical leadership studies is internationally recognized and her PhD thesis on ‘A Postcolonial Analysis of Contemporary Leadership Development in Africa’ received the prestigious Academy of Management ‘Best Dissertation Prize’ in Critical Management Studies.
