LSE Generate x LSE ABC: The Other Side - What's Cooking?!

About this Event
LSE ABC
The Other Side
The impact of the pandemic on all sectors is only beginning to emerge and recognising that there will need to be greater flexibility, adaptability and innovation within both academia and the private sector, we want to equip PhD students and ECRs with the tools and skills that will enable them to navigate both.
What's cooking!?
Take part in your very own cookery class with asylum seeker and human rights activist Majeda who will lead you through the creation of a traditional Syrian dish! We'll send you food vouchers to buy all of the ingredients and all you need to do is to tune in, learn from our chef and enjoy a hearty winter meal afterwards! The virtual supper club that follows the cookery session will be a unique and facilitated learning opportunity to learn how to communicate better with and speak the language of the private sector as well as discuss how you can manage relations with stakeholders. The peer-to-peer discussion also aims to help to develop a sense of the value and applicability of research expertise (core topic area vs. broader skill sets) and to gain confidence in placing it within the private sector landscape.
After our cookery class (5pm) we will be introducing the wonderful Adam McNichol (6pm) to the group who, over the course of an hour, will be helping us work out where to start when creating a digital strategy for ourselves and how to position ourselves as a subject matter expert.
Adam is an experienced director and project manager, using progressive ethical business practices, deep industry knowledge and creative thinking to motivate individuals, teams and businesses to deliver the best work of their lives. Adam is the Founder of Well Good an early stage start up, developing a product that helps prevent mental health crisis, by utilising data and augmented intelligence. He has worked with and hired PhD students and graduates across his different roles and will be facilitating our session!
The session is open to all students & Alumni who feel they would benefit.
This event is part of the LSE ABC (Accelerating Business Collaboration) programme, funded by a grant awarded by the ESRC to the LSE Doctoral Training Partnership. The grant is aimed at developing and supporting new collaboration.
The LSE Doctoral Training Partnership is delighted to be working in partnership with LSE Generate – the hub that supports entrepreneurs and their innovative ideas.
