Fresh Thinking on Inequality
About this event
As time evolves, so does inequality. New social, political and economic dynamics around the world demand an equally contemporary approach to inequality and its conditions. With the added and exponential proliferation of AI and technology in the past decade, inequality permeates society and everyday life in new and changing ways.
- What is the value of social and political equity on our society today?
- Where does society now stand, and where will this lead us?
- Does radical economic inequality require radical solutions?
- To what extent are the concerns of inequality heightened by the changing technological landscape?
Join the LSESU Economics Symposium for a rigorous and provocative discussion from a distinguished panel of speakers from academia, commerce and politics on unpacking these questions and rethinking inequality!
Keynote Address by Linda Yueh
Professor Linda Yueh, author of 'The Great Economists: How Their Ideas Can Help Us Today'-- Times Best Business Book of 2018, Fellow in Economics, University of Oxford; Adjunct Professor of Economics, London Business School; Visiting Professor, LSE IDEAS, will be giving the first Keynote address at our symposium.
Linda is renowned for her combination of erudition, as an accomplished economist herself, and accessibility, as a leading writer and broadcaster in this field; and in The Great Economists she explains the key thoughts of history's greatest economists, how their lives and times affected their ideas, how our lives have been influenced by their work, and how they could help with the policy challenges that we face today.
Linda's speech will be centred on the issue of inequality based on an analysis of history of economic thoughts.
