The project aims primarily to engage children and families with archaeological and anthropological objects following the ‘object-based learning approach’. This approach encourages children to develop their curiosity and interest on the subject independently with the guidance of UCL students. We will be working with home-education groups from London at the Institute of Archaeology. The project is aimed at children between the ages of 7-11 years old.
The first half of the session will introduce object handling, the second half will be focused on creative activities such as art and craft, writing, artefact illustration and so on. The session will typically be one and a half to two hours and will introduce the children to the subject of archaeology and anthropology. Each session will be themed and will relate to a region or time-period.
