Photographer Lucy Sewill has built a diverse creative career spanning celebrity portraiture and figurative fine art, with her work exhibited worldwide and held in the National Portrait Gallery. Over two decades she has photographed cultural icons from rockstars and royals to politicians and actors.
Her latest project, Visible Women, was launched in response to the stark lack of parity and representation for women in the acting and entertainment industries. Inspired by Nicky Clark’s Acting Your Age campaign, Lucy set out to highlight the women whose talent and visibility too often diminish in midlife.
The series features leading actresses including Indira Varma, Meera Syal and Juliet Stevenson, united in their demand for equality and authentic representation. In this Meantime event, Lucy shares the stories behind the portraits, the inspiration for the project, and why Visible Women is both a celebration and a call to action.
